Robb Kahl Announces Candidacy for 47th State Assembly District

3/30/2012

Robb Kahl, former Monona Mayor and local small business owner, announced today, March 30, his bid as a Democrat for Wisconsin State Assembly.

Kahl served four terms as Mayor and continues to serve as chair of Monona’s Community Development Authority. As Mayor, Kahl oversaw the award-winning Monona Drive reconstruction project, led Monona’s extensive economic redevelopment, and implemented an expansion of public services all while proposing budgets that held the line on property taxes, substantially increased Monona’s rainy day fund and improved the city’s bond rating.

Kahl is also part-owner of a small business in Monona, executive director for a non-profit organization representing the common interests of management and union labor in the construction industry, and serves on various other business and community boards.

“I am deeply concerned about the state that our future generations will inherit,” stated Kahl. “I want to use my public and private sector experience to help make the 47th Assembly District a better place to live and do business.”

“Instead of allowing the current challenges confronting us to further divide us, we must elect people like Robb Kahl to help move Wisconsin forward,” declared State Senator Jon Erpenbach.

Fitchburg Mayor Shawn Pfaff looks to continue his good working relationship with Kahl. “I look forward to continuing my collaborative work with Robb to improve the quality of life for residents of Fitchburg and all of the 47th Assembly District.”

State Representative Sondy Pope-Roberts added, “Robb is committed to public education and understands the importance of a trained workforce in meeting our state’s economic development goals.”

“Robb knows that we need to provide essential public services and make investments in our communities in order to ensure Wisconsin is an ideal place to live and work,” said Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin President and Lt. Governor candidate Mahlon Mitchell.

Former Madison Mayor Dave Cieselwicz also had positive comments for Robb: “I enjoyed working with Robb when he was Mayor because he knows the importance of working together as a region to solve tough problems like cleaning up our lakes and meeting our transportation challenges.”

“It is time to elect people like Robb Kahl to help restore an atmosphere of trust, integrity and cooperation to our government,” commented Monona Grove School Board president Susan Fox.

Kahl and his wife Jennifer have been married for 15 years and have four children. Both Robb and Jennifer are active members of their community, volunteering their time to coach youth sports, serve on various city and school committees, and lead fundraising efforts for civic and school causes.

The newly configured 47th Assembly District includes all of McFarland and Monona, part of the cities of Fitchburg and Madison, and all or part of the towns of Cottage Grove, Blooming Grove, Dunn and Madison.
