Kahl Campaign: Individual Rights Policy Statement

4/25/2012

(Monona, WI)  Robb Kahl, Democratic candidate for the 47th Assembly District and former Monona Mayor, announced his policy position regarding various individual rights today.

Collective Bargaining “I support the restoration of collective bargaining rights for all public employees,” stated Kahl.  “As Mayor of Monona, I worked with our employees under the previous collective bargaining system to find compromise and fairness, and we must return to an environment where employees once again have a say in their workplace conditions,” stated Kahl.

The War on Women  “A woman’s right to make very personal and private medical decisions impacting her body, including any decisions regarding reproductive rights, must be protected,” added Kahl.  “We must reverse the cuts to women’s health care access, including the elimination of funding for thousands of women receiving breast and cervical cancer screenings, birth control and STD/HIV testing and treatment through Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin,” noted Kahl.  “I will also fight to restore the Equal Pay Enforcement Act.  As a husband and the father of three daughters, I am deeply concerned about the impact of this repeal not only on my family but on all the women of Wisconsin,” added Kahl.

Marriage Equality  “The right of any person, regardless of sex, to marry the person he or she loves and have the opportunity to build a family together is one we must continue as a society to pursue and provide,” stated Kahl.  “Wisconsin has made some vital steps in the advancement of rights for all individuals with regard to equality in relationships and parenthood, but we can and should do more to provide equal rights for every person,” concluded Kahl.

The 47th Assembly District covers all of McFarland and Monona and parts of Fitchburg and Madison.  It also encompasses all or part of the towns of Cottage Grove, Blooming Grove, Dunn and Madison.
