STATE’S LARGEST POLICE GROUP

ENDORSES KAHL FOR STATE ASSEMBLY

MADISON–On May 14, the Wisconsin Professional Police Association (WPPA) announced its endorsement of Robb Kahl in his race for Wisconsin State Assembly, 47th District.  Representing more than 10,000 members, the group’s decision was made by its board of directors, which consists of rank-and-file members.  In making this decision, the WPPA evaluated each of the candidates, their records, and the strength of their campaigns.  The group specifically cited Kahl’s service working with its membership during his four terms as Mayor of Monona, his keen understanding of public safety issues confronting local governments throughout the state, and his ability to govern in an inclusive and civil manner as vital elements in reaching their decision.

“Robb Kahl understands the importance of regaining the jobs our state has lost as an important part of stabilizing our local economies and the important role WPPA members play in that recovery process by improving the quality of life for our residents and businesses,” said WPPA Executive Director Jim Palmer.  “Robb has exhibited a unique ability to bring people with differing opinions to a common consensus for the public good and that is exactly what we need now in the capitol,” Palmer added.

WPPA joins the Dane County Deputy Sheriffs Association which had previously endorsed Kahl.  “I am honored to receive the endorsement of WPPA because these are the men and women who sacrifice every day to ensure the citizens of the 47th Assembly District are safe and our property secure,” stated Kahl.  “Public safety shouldn’t be a political issue but with the recent budget cuts it is clear we need to head in a new direction to ensure our local law enforcement officers, correctional officers, and dispatchers are able to effectively do their jobs,” concluded Kahl.

The 47th Assembly District covers all of McFarland and Monona and parts of Fitchburg and Madison.  It also encompasses all or part of the towns of Cottage Grove, Blooming Grove, Dunn and Madison.
