(Monona) “Robb was a mayor who worked hard to recruit new jobs to his city. He actively sought out Wisconsin Restaurant Association members in the region and encouraged them to open new restaurants in Monona,” the association said in a statement to their members. “As a small business owner, Robb Kahl understands some of the struggles that restaurant owners face.”

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association,” Kahl said. “Bringing new businesses to Monona and supporting existing ones were some of my top priorities as mayor and in the state assembly I will work every day to help businesses in the state succeed.”

Wisconsin restaurants are overwhelmingly independent small businesses with 91% of eating and drinking establishments having fewer than 50 employees and almost 90% of full-service restaurants in Wisconsin being independently owned.  Food and beverage establishments in the state register a total of $7.0 billion in sales annually, with every $1 spent in Wisconsin eating and drinking establishments generating an additional $.99 in sales for the state economy.

“Wisconsin needs to encourage those people who are willing to take chance and start a new business. In order to get a new business from the drawing board to reality, the state must encourage and invest in economic development, support public education and foster a cooperative partnership between government and the private sector,” Kahl added.

Kahl supports creating a Wisconsin venture capital fund that will help those people who want to take a good idea and turn it into reality. Over 80% of the jobs in America are created by small businesses and Kahl believes that Wisconsin should encourage small business owners and assist them in creating jobs throughout the state.

The newly configured 47th Assembly District includes all of McFarland and Monona; part of the cities of Fitchburg and Madison; and all or part of the towns of Cottage Grove, Blooming Grove, Dunn and Madison.
