Former Monona Mayor has the experience needed to move Wisconsin forward

(October 8th, 2012)

(MONONA)  The Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association (WSTA) has announced their strong support for and endorsement of Robb Kahl for State Assembly in the 47th District.

“Robb Kahl has the kind of experience Wisconsin needs in the State Assembly to focus on job creation and to train people for the jobs of the future,” said Bill Esbeck, Executive Director of the WSTA. As Monona Mayor, Robb Kahl established a proven record of working together with diverse groups and people to get the job done.

Esbeck continued, “Robb is a hard working advocate squarely focused on economic development and advancement, responsible regulatory reform and tax issues important to the WSTA membership. Our association looks forward to working to get Robb elected this fall.”

“I am honored to have the support of this well-known and well respected group representing Wisconsin telecommunications businesses,” Kahl said. “In Monona, we have had a great deal of success of working together to improve public services and expand economic development to make our city a better place to live.” Kahl continued, “It takes diverse groups who check their partisanship at the door and roll up their sleeves to advocate for solid reform policies.  The WSTA fits directly into that category and like me, care deeply about creating jobs and improving Wisconsin’s economy.”

Robb Kahl served four terms as Mayor of Monona and continues to serve as Chair of Monona’s Community Development Authority. During his tenure as Mayor, he led the effort to rebuild the city’s aging infrastructure; expand and improve public services; double the size of Monona’s rainy day account; establish community sustainability efforts; increase economic development; and to improve the community’s bond rating.

The recent reconstruction of Monona Drive was an enormous project led by Kahl that required cooperation among Monona, Madison, Dane County, the State of Wisconsin, and the federal government. This highly successful project has won numerous awards and has transformed Monona’s main street that is the gateway to Dane County’s metropolitan east side. Kahl’s budgets continually held the line on taxes but found the needed balance between providing essential services residents expect while ensuring the taxes charged for those services were fair and reasonable.

The newly configured 47th Assembly District includes all of McFarland and Monona, part of the cities of Fitchburg and Madison, and all or part of the towns of Cottage Grove, Blooming Grove, Dunn and Madison.
